Appeals

Our office can assist you with most immigration appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) or the federal courts.  This may involve an appeal after a final decision by an immigration judge ordering you removed from the country or it may involve appealing the denial of an application submitted to the United States and Citizenship Services (USCIS).  If you have an immigration matter that you think may need to be appealed, please contact our office for additional information.

Citizenship & Naturalization

Our office assists clients in the process of becoming United States Citizens.  If you are currently a legal permanent resident and are hoping to naturalize, our law office can help you with this process and prepare you for your interview with the United States Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS).  If you think you may be eligible for citizenship or naturalization, please contact our office for additional information.

Deportation & Removal Defense

Our office helps clients who are in deportation or removal proceedings at the Office of Executive Office of Immigration Review (EOIR), also known as “Immigration Court.”  There are many remedies available for clients who are in removal proceedings, including Cancellation of Removal, Asylum, and Adjustments in Proceedings.  Our skilled legal team is available to help you throughout your entire process, which can typically being with requesting a bond reduction in your case.  If you have been served with a Notice to Appear or you have a loved one who is currently detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), please contact our office for additional information.

Family Immigration

Contreras Edin Law, PA is a law office that is focuses on keeping families united, which includes many family based immigration processes.  Family based immigration is often one of the most misunderstood immigration processes that exist.  One of the most basic requirements is a legal relationship to someone who is in the United States as a Legal Permanent Resident or a United States Citizen, but there are many other requirements to consider prior to filing a petition for a family member.   If you are interested in filing a family petition for a family member, please contact our office for additional information. 

Humanitarian Relief

Our office helps clients seeking relief on humanitarian grounds.  This relief may include a U Nonimmigrant Visa (U-Visa) for individuals who have been victims of a significant crime and cooperated with the police, Temporary Protected Status (“TPS”) for individuals from countries previously recognized in need for protection, or Asylum for individuals who have a fear of violence or persecution if they are forced to return to their home country.  There are many options for individuals under humanitarian relief, so if you think you may need to seek humanitarian relief, please contact our office for additional information.
 

Employment Based Immigration

We offer immigration solutions for businesses who wish to stay competitive in their respective fields and foreign nationals seeking guidance in terms of visa options. Miscellaneous

It may be difficult to fit your case into a specific category, but that does not mean that there is no relief available for you.  For example, our law office assists individuals who are seeking Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).  DACA is available for individuals who came to the United States as children and are enrolled in school or have graduated from high school, among other specified requirements. Our office also helps individuals who are eligible for Adjustment of Status after having received U-Visa Status, Special Juvenile Immigrant Status Petitions, B2 Tourist Visas, work permit renewals, and Freedom of Information Act Requests.   There are many different remedies available, so please contact our office if you would like to have your case evaluated for possible remedies that may be available to you.

Child in Need of Protective Services

Our office can also assist you in the defense of a CHIPS (Child in Need of Protective Services) action or when it has been determined that your child is in need of protective services.  If the State of Minnesota has initiated CHIPS proceedings and you would like to bring a defense against these allegations, please contact our office for a consultation with an attorney.

Select Guardianship Cases

The office handles select guardianship cases handled in probate court.  If you would like to seek guardianship over a minor child, please contact our office for additional information.

Select Divorces

Our office also assists with select divorce cases.  These types of divorce cases usually are not contested; there are no child custody issues, and there is minimal or no property to be divided.  If you think our law office can assist you with your divorce, please contact our office directly.

 
Select International Divorces

The office can handle simple international divorce cases.  A simple international divorce case is one that is generally not contested, where there no child custody issues and where one of the parties lives abroad.  If you are interested in seeking an international divorce, please contact our office.

Stepparent Adoption

The office can assist with adoptions by a stepparent.  A stepparent adoption takes place after the legal parent is married to someone who is not the child’s biological parent, but would like to adopt the child.  There are many reasons why someone may want to legally adopt their stepchild. Termination of Parental Rights

Contreras Edin Law, P.A. can also assist you in terminating the parental rights of a biological parent who has abandoned the child.  The situation most often comes-up when attempting to have your child adopted by another person who is not the parent, such as a stepparent.  If you are interested in more information regarding termination of parental rights, please contact our office.

Criminal Law

Adult Felony Charges

Juvenile Felony and Misdemeanor Charges

Post-Conviction Relief

Our law office can assist you if you need to seek post-conviction relief.  Post-conviction relief includes requests made to a court after you have already been convicted of a criminal charge.  You may have reason to believe that your constitutional rights were violated in the manner in which you were convicted or that some other serious error occurred.  In some cases these types of violations and errors could lead to your conviction being vacated and a new trial ordered.  Post-conviction relief is also available where you were not correctly and completely informed of the immigration consequences of your plea of guilty in a criminal matter.  If you believe that you may need help with post-conviction relief, please contact our office for additional information.

Probation Violations

Contreras Edin Law, PA may be able to assist you with defending yourself against charges stemming from an alleged probation violation.  Probation violation hearings involve a lower standard of proof than the conviction on the underlying charge and can lead to a new and more sever sentence on the underlying charge if you are found to have violated your probation.
